Location: Huddersfield

Contract: Full-time / Term-time only

Salary: GBP95 - GBP110 per day (dependent on experience)

Start Date: ASAP or September 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Huddersfield. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them reach their full potential. As an SEN TA, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team to provide tailored assistance to pupils with diverse needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social-emotional needs, and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
  • Adapt learning activities to ensure accessibility and engagement
  • Assist with behaviour regulation and emotional support
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Support pupils with EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor progress and contribute to written records and reports

About You

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN setting
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing
  • The ability to use initiative and build positive relationships
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable but not essential:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience with Makaton, PECs, or other communication strategies
  • Training in safeguarding, Team Teach, or SEND specialisms
