Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

Rate: £140 - £220 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to pupils with a range of SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs.
  • Adapt teaching to individual needs, recognising that pupils may be working at different levels or have gaps in their education.
  • Re-engage young people with learning through creative, practical and accessible teaching approaches.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation using appropriate de-escalation, restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel supported to engage, achieve and develop their confidence.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification is desirable.
  • Experience working within SEMH, SEN, Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist education would be highly advantageous.
  • Alternatively, strong experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or additional needs within mainstream education.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm, consistent and professional in challenging situations.
  • A flexible and adaptable teaching style with the ability to engage pupils who may have become disengaged from education.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to establish trust with young people.
  • An understanding of SEMH, trauma, attachment and barriers to learning.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
  • Provide two professional, child-related references.
