Make a Difference. Inspire Confidence. Change Futures.
Prospero Teaching is expanding its team of tutors across Hereford, and we're looking for enthusiastic, patient and dedicated individuals to provide one-to-one educational support to children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students who may have struggled to access mainstream education, helping them rebuild their confidence, rediscover their love of learning and work towards reintegrating into an educational environment.
With competitive hourly pay, flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to build a schedule around your availability, this could be an ideal role for experienced teachers, teaching assistants, tutors or individuals with relevant transferable experience.
The Role
You'll deliver personalised, one-to-one tuition to students who require additional educational support outside of a traditional classroom environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging, tailored lessons in subjects such as English and Maths.
- Supporting students with additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and emotional regulation difficulties.
- Building positive, trusting relationships and creating a supportive learning environment.
- Helping students develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
- Adapting your teaching approach to suit individual abilities and learning styles.
- Supporting students in working towards their educational goals and, where appropriate, reintegration into school.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from people who genuinely enjoy working with young people and want to make a difference. Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN.
- Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths or other curriculum areas.
- Relevant teaching, tutoring or education-based qualifications, or suitable experience for the assignment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
- The confidence to work independently and deliver engaging one-to-one sessions.
- Experience in teaching, youth work, pastoral support, SEN provisions or care-based roles could all be valuable.
What Does Success Look Like?
The best tutors are those who can build trust, understand individual challenges and make learning enjoyable again. You'll thrive if you're patient, adaptable and motivated by seeing young people make progress, whether that's improving academically, developing confidence or taking their first steps back towards education.
