We are seeking an experienced Functional Skills Tutor to provide tailored 1:1 support to a young person based in Havant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering Functional Skills Maths and/or English and a passion for helping learners build confidence and achieve meaningful progress.
About the Role
- Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills teaching to a young person who requires structured, supportive learning.
- Sessions take place in person in the Havant area. Approximately 2 hours per week, with flexibility around scheduling.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet Functional Skills standards and the learner's individual needs.
- Track progress and provide brief updates/records as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching Functional Skills (Maths, English, or both).
- Ability to differentiate and adapt learning materials for a young learner.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Professional, reliable, and committed to learner success.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
- Experience working with young people who may benefit from additional support or personalised teaching.
- Teaching qualifications such as PTLLS, DTLLS, CertEd, PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.
