Make a Positive Impact Beyond the Classroom

We're looking for dedicated and compassionate SEN Mentors to support children and young people across Hampshire through personalised 1:1 mentoring. Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support learners who require alternative provision due to a range of additional needs and barriers to education. This role is less focused on academic attainment and more centred around building confidence, developing positive relationships, improving engagement, and supporting emotional wellbeing. Every young person is different, making this a varied and rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping vulnerable learners achieve positive outcomes.

Start Date: September

Hours: Flexible

Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Mentoring

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including mentoring, teaching, tutoring, learning support, youth work, teaching assistant, or similar roles
  • Experience supporting children and young people with additional needs is desirable
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to individual needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across Hampshire

Who You'll Support:

You'll work with children and young people who may have:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance
  • EHCPs and additional educational needs

Your role will be to provide consistent support, encourage engagement, and help learners develop the confidence and skills needed to progress.
