We are working in partnership with Local Authorities across Southampton and the surrounding Hampshire areas to recruit experienced Mentors to provide 1:1 support to young people. This rewarding role focuses on supporting a young person's wellbeing, confidence, independence and personal development. Unlike traditional tutoring, mentoring centres around building positive relationships and helping young people engage more confidently with the world around them. Each placement is tailored to the individual needs of the young person, providing meaningful opportunities to make a lasting difference.
Responsibilities:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Support the development of confidence and self-esteem
- Encourage engagement with hobbies, interests and community activities
- Develop social skills, communication and positive behaviours
- Provide emotional support in a safe and supportive environment
- Support young people to access activities and new experiences
- Promote independence and essential life skills
- Adapt sessions to meet individual needs and personal goals

Requirements:
- Minimum 6 months' experience working within a UK educational setting
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach
- Confidence building positive relationships with young people
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to provide professional references
