Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a calm, reliable, and committed Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in the Lymington area. This school supports children and young people aged 7-16 with Autism, Complex Learning Profiles, communication differences, sensory needs, and barriers to engaging with learning.

This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting neurodivergent young people in a structured, therapeutic, and child-centred environment.

Please note: There are no public transport links, so applicants must have their own car and live within a reasonable distance of Lymington.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing consistent support to young people with autism and complex learning needs throughout the school day
  • Working within a class group or offering 1:1 support depending on the needs of the pupil
  • Supporting emotional regulation, communication, sensory needs, and engagement in learning
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive routines
  • Using calm, clear, and consistent communication to build trusting relationships
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
  • Being flexible to support different year groups where required

  • Working Hours: Monday-Thursday: 08:30-16:30, Friday: 08:30-16:00
  • Pay Rate (Temp): £14.25 per hour
  • Permanent Contract: Term-time only (39 weeks)
  • Permanent Salary: £20,974
Requirements
  • Own car and ability to travel to site daily
  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (Child-only DBS accepted)
  • GCSE Maths & English (Grade C / Level 4 or above) - evidence required
  • Availability for full-time hours
  • Experience supporting SEN is advantageous but not essential
