At Prospero's CES Team, we specialise in designing bespoke education packages for children and young people across Kent. We have a high demand for Functional Skills 1-1 Tutors who have experience in delivering Maths, English & Science KS2-4 in the Maidstone area. Experience in all key stages/subjects is NOT essential. The majority of students tend to be KS3+, but at times working at a much lower ability.

Who we need: We are on the lookout for education experts to support students on a 1-1 basis who are not able to access full-time education for various reasons. Many of the students we support have mild to complex SEND and SEMH needs. Many are disengaged, having not attended school for some time and may have emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking nurturing Tutors with a patient, flexible & non-judgemental approach with a passion for working closely with students to overcome barriers & reintegrate them back into education or a suitable school placement.

What we offer you:

  • Competitive hourly rate from £21.30 - £25.00 per hour.
  • Sessions are usually 1-2 hours per student so we can offer you work around your availability; this role suits Tutors who may have part-time commitments such as another job, childcare, studies & as such need flexibility, with some stability.
  • Resource platform including CPD accredited courses and training.

Your role with us:

  • Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition in Functional Skills core subjects and any other subject of interest.
  • Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
  • Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students rebuild their confidence in learning.
  • Hold sessions throughout the school day either within the student's home or out in the community (library or learning hub).

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring.
  • Proven ability to break down complex topics in a way that is clear, practical, and engaging.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Must have, or be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
