Prospero Teaching are seeking an adaptable Functional Skills English & Maths Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 tuition in St Helens.
The role involves helping a learner strengthen their core skills and re-engage with education through structured, accessible and supportive sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored Functional Skills tuition
- Support English and Maths development
- Plan sessions around individual targets
- Identify and address gaps in core knowledge
- Adapt resources and explanations
- Build confidence and encourage participation
- Record and communicate learner progress
Requirements
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring English and/or Maths
- Functional Skills experience desirable
- Strong communication and numeracy skills
- Experience supporting learners with additional needs or gaps in education advantageous
- Patient and encouraging approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Right to Work in the UK
- Two professional child-related references
