Prospero Teaching are recruiting individuals to work as Teaching Assistants on a flexible supply basis at specialist high schools in Ashton & Duckinfield. This role is suited to those who cannot commit to full-time work or would like the flexibility of choosing their own shifts to work around other commitments.
The school caters for children aged 11-16 years old with moderate and complex learning difficulties, including those on the autism spectrum. Students receive a tailored curriculum best suited to their needs and abilities, and the school offers a fantastic approach to learning.
Working as an Ad-Hoc Teaching Assistant, you would be placed where needed on that particular day and would uphold all the usual duties of a Teaching Assistant. We encourage those working on flexible supply to show eagerness, confidence, and an ability to get 'stuck in' using initiative drawn from experience.
The role would consist of:
- Liaising with your consultant at the beginning of the week to agree on availability for shifts that week and being on standby from 7am for morning calls to be instructed about work available
- Providing tailored support while working with children and SEN
- Creating a safe environment that allows children to have fun, learn, and succeed
- Academic support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Assisting the teacher
The ideal candidate:
- Someone who can demonstrate the necessary nurturing qualities required to work closely with SEN children
- Ideally with previous experience caring for those with additional needs
- Teaching Assistant qualification is ideal but not essential
