Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a secondary-aged pupil with brain injury and neurological difficulties, including challenges around regulation, memory, communication and fatigue. This role is based within a specialist SEND school in Fareham and focuses on providing personalised, consistent support to help the pupil access learning safely, build confidence and develop independence.

You will work closely with teaching staff, therapy teams and medical professionals to ensure the pupil's needs are met throughout the school day. This includes supporting emotional regulation, monitoring wellbeing, adapting learning tasks and promoting a calm, structured environment.

Contract Details

  • Location: Fareham
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Hours: 08:30am - 15:00pm
  • Full-time
  • Pay Rate: From Β£14.25 per hour

Experience, Training & Personal Qualities

  • Calm behaviour support and reassurance during moments of dysregulation
  • Strong behaviour management while maintaining a positive, nurturing environment
  • Motivational approach to encourage engagement, communication and confidence
  • Support for neurological needs including fatigue, sensory overload, memory difficulties and emotional regulation
  • Understanding of brain injury and its impact on learning and behaviour
  • Caring, patient communication with a calm, consistent presence
  • Proactive and reflective with a willingness to learn
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, learning difficulties or communication needs

Requirements

  • To be eligible for this role, you must:
  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child-barred list DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
  • Provide references covering the last 24 months
