Would you like to help support the hardest to reach families in Central Manchester and really make a difference in their lives? Prospero Teaching are recruiting for a Family Support Worker to work in an Ofted \”Good\” rated secondary school in Hulme (M15). It is a school for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues, and raises aspirations for the young people that deal with these challenges every day. It is a safe, supportive environment, with low staff turnover – most staff who are sent in by Prospero Teaching are offered a permanent contract after their first 12 weeks!! The role requires you to go out into the community and liaise with social workers, and family members to help these young people to engage with the curriculum as best they can. The young people have all been affected by drug abuse, family issues, trauma, neglect or mental health issues – and therefore find it difficult to attend school on a regular basis and have some behavioural challenges. All students have an education and health care plan which you will be able to follow. If you have a good working knowledge of the Hulme and Moss Side area it would be very useful for this role!
