Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs School
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in RM3 from September. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex SEND needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
- Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Help implement individual education plans (EHCP targets) and behaviour support strategies.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and independence throughout the school day.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and other professionals.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly complex needs.
- A patient, caring, and positive approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A willingness to support personal care needs where necessary.
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
