About the Part‑Time 1:1 Outreach Tutor Position

Prospero Teaching are looking for 1:1 tutors to support children in care, children with special educational needs and excluded pupils across Essex.

Responsibilities

  • Provide varied part‑time tuition during the school day or after school hours/weekends, mainly focusing on Maths, English, and sometimes Science across all key stages (students typically at low levels up to foundation).
  • Support learners who may have behavioural and/or SEN difficulties and tend to perform at lower levels than their peers.
  • Teach in students’ homes, care homes, local libraries, or other settings.
  • Be flexible, adaptable, and bring experience from the education sector.

Qualifications & Experience

  • QTS or QTLS preferred, but not essential if you have relevant experience.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH or LAC is advantageous.
  • Highly motivated and committed to student success.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students, making learning enjoyable.

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child‑barred DBS certificate, registered with the online update service (or willingness to obtain a new application).
  • Two professional child‑related references covering the last two years.
