Join Our Team

We are seeking a caring, organised and professional Medical Room Assistant to join our supportive secondary school community in Tendring. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about promoting the health, wellbeing and safety of young people.

Working closely with students, families, school staff and external healthcare professionals, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school's medical room, providing first aid and supporting students with medical needs throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid and medical support to students and staff.
  • Administer prescribed medication in accordance with school policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and accident reports.
  • Support students with ongoing medical conditions and individual healthcare plans.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers and healthcare professionals when required.
  • Monitor and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
  • Promote student wellbeing and contribute to safeguarding and welfare practices across the school.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
  • A recognised First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Previous experience in a healthcare, school, care or related setting is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities.
