Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic English Tutor to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings in Newcastle on a full-time and long-term basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the Role
- The role will involve planning and teaching engaging and informative English sessions that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and allows all pupils to make progress.
- Working with Secondary aged pupils within a PRU setting who have a wide range of SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small Intervention groups
- Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
- Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner
- Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and earning styles of all pupils.
- Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress
- Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
- Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience

- The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Newcastle.
- The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range and there are opportunities to support pupils across all years groups depending on your preference and specialism.
- Pay, Hours and Contract
- Pay – Between £130-165 per day
- Hours –
- Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027. Temporary Contract.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements
- An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
- English Tutoring or Teaching experience in either SEND, Primary or Secondary School settings within the UK.
- Strong Behaviour Management skills
- Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
- Strong KS3-KS5 English Subject Knowledge
- Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
- A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work
- Experience of English Teaching within the UK
- A genuine passion for Teaching
- Strong organisation and communication skills
