English Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary English Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Bury area. This role is ideal for both experienced teachers and confident ECTs looking to develop their career within a well‑established and forward‑thinking school environment.

Position Details

  • Location: Bury
  • Role: Secondary English Teacher
  • Key Stages: KS3 & KS4
  • Start Date: January 2026 (earlier start available)
  • Contract Type: Full‑time, Temporary or Temp‑to‑Perm
  • Working Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • Pay: £168.00 – £233.00 per day (Paid to Scale – PTS)

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and high‑quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan, prepare, and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well‑managed classroom environment
  • Support students of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs
  • Work collaboratively with the English department and wider school staff
  • Contribute to departmental planning, enrichment activities, and wider school life

Experience, Training & Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching English in a UK secondary school (ECTs encouraged to apply)
  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for English
  • Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete this)

Requirements

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
