Job description

Prospero Teaching are currently on the lookout for English graduates with a keen interest in education to join a secondary school in North London. Specifically, we’re seeking individuals who have excelled in English at both GCSE and A-level, and who hold a degree in a English related field. Are you interested in working as a teaching assistant in a secondary school where there may be opportunities to train to teach in the future?

In addition to academic excellence, we value strong communication skills and a dedicated approach to supporting students’ learning journeys. If you’re a English graduate who meets these criteria and is eager to make a positive impact in a school setting, we’d love to hear from you.

As a English teaching assistant, you will be working in a secondary school environment with 11 – 16-year-olds who require continuity, positive role models, patience and understanding.

WHAT DOES THE ENGLISH GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT ROLE INVOLVE:

* Supporting the class teacher and students during lessons
* 1 a rapport with 5 – 6 students with specific needs and implementing strategies to nurture, engage and raise attainment in their secondary years
* 1:1 English tuition sessions supporting your subject specialism
* Running intervention groups in your subject area to build their knowledge of the subject

WHAT SUPPORT WILL I BE GIVEN AS A ENGLISH GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT?

* You’ll be given training, guidance and support by an experienced consultant at Prospero and our Training and Development Team (all experienced teachers) as well as from the school themselves.
* A programme of FREE Training and CPD sessions are also offered.

School support:

* You will be provided with resources and strategies to support learners, behaviour management training, group and 1:1 training from qualified, experienced passionate staff.

ENGLISH GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT:

  • Full-time school hours, 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday.
  • You will be required to run an after-school club once a week until and attend a departmental meeting once a week.
  • The role is paid weekly at a daily rate of £95 to £105 per day and can become a permanent post in the future.
