Teaching & Learning
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with a range of SEN/ALN, including (but not limited to) ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD and communication needs.
- Create a safe, structured and positive learning environment that supports individual learning styles.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies, interventions and resources to meet pupils' needs.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, adapting teaching accordingly.
Pupil Support
- Develop and implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) in line with the ALN Code for Wales.
- Support pupils' emotional regulation, behaviour and wellbeing using trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
- Promote pupils' independence, confidence and social development.
- Work effectively with support staff to ensure consistent and high-quality provision.
Person Specification
- Essential Criteria
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching pupils with SEN/ALN, ideally in a specialist or additional needs setting.
- Strong understanding of the ALN Code for Wales (or willingness to develop this).
- Ability to plan and deliver differentiated, inclusive lessons.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and relationship-building skills.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach to teaching and behaviour support.
