At Prospero Teaching we are looking for QTS Tutors based in the Durham Area who currently hold Qualified Teaching Status to deliver Maths and English tuition to students with a variety of needs, from KS2 - KS3.

As a Tutor, your role will include planning and delivering 1:1 tailored lessons to help supplement or provide an alternative to mainstream education, with a focus on the students' engagement or potential reintegration into school. The majority of students we work with have been out of mainstream schooling for weeks, months and sometimes years, which could be due to medical reasons, Specific SEN Needs, SEMH needs or behavioural issues. We need Tutors who have experience in at least one of these areas, who can help with the students' education, but also understand the nuances of each situation and how to adapt lesson plans and engagement in a beneficial way.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Location - Durham - DH1 1AF (within the community or students' home)
  • Position - QTS Tutor
  • Start date - September 2026
  • Duration / Likely Duration - Until the student finds a suitable school placement
  • End date (if applicable) - Ongoing
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Full time/part time - Part time and full time depending on your availability
  • Rate of pay - up to GBP30 per hour
  • Hours - Working hours can differentiate, up to 15 hours per week, per student

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • QTS or QTLS qualifications
  • 6 months+ experience working in a UK school

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
