We are seeking an exceptional Deputy Headteacher to join our specialist SEND primary school and work alongside the Headteacher to drive excellence in teaching, learning, safeguarding, and pupil outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, leading an experienced team committed to ensuring every child achieves success.

About the Role

  • Support the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school.
  • Drive high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour, and attendance.
  • Lead and develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Champion inclusive practice and high aspirations for all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with families, external professionals, and key stakeholders.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy DSL where appropriate.
  • Deputise for the Headteacher in their absence.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Significant experience in a leadership role within SEND education
  • Proven experience supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, communication and learning difficulties
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, EHCP processes and inclusive practice
  • Proven ability to improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
