About the Role
Prospero Teaching is currently seeking a dedicated, experienced and qualified Outreach Tutor to deliver tailored 1:1 tuition in English, Maths and Science to young people not currently attending mainstream education in Barking and Dagenham. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher looking to move away from the classroom and make a direct impact through personalised, engaging lessons. The role involves working closely with pupils, many of whom may have been out of education for some time, to rebuild their confidence, reignite their interest in learning, and support academic progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver bespoke 1:1 sessions in core subjects (English, Maths, Science) to learners aged 11-16.
- Assess learning gaps and create structured, engaging sessions to meet individual needs.
- Build strong, positive relationships to encourage re-engagement with education.
- Monitor and report on progress regularly.
- Collaborate with Prospero Teaching and other professionals.
Ideal Candidate
- Holds QTS, PGCE, QTLS or equivalent UK teaching qualification.
- Has experience delivering lessons in a UK school setting (minimum 6 months).
- Preferably has experience working with SEN/SEMH learners.
- Is confident working independently in a 1:1 environment, with strong behaviour management and communication skills.

- Safeguarding: Up-to-date safeguarding training is desirable

- To be eligible for this role, you must:
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered with the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years
