ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is looking for an Outreach Tutor to deliver bespoke education packages on a 1:1 basis to young people in Barking and Dagenham who are not currently attending school. This role is specifically focused on supporting pupils with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN), and therefore requires tutors with proven experience using Makaton and/or PECS. You must be confident in implementing these communication strategies to support engagement, understanding, and progress.
As an Outreach Tutor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of each pupil. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced educator who is passionate about inclusive education and looking to offer more personalised, meaningful learning experiences outside of the classroom. Many of the pupils may have been out of education for some time and may present with low confidence and high anxiety. Your role will be to reintroduce structure, build trust, and help them reengage with learning. Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor progress and support effective learning throughout the placement.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using Makaton and/or PECS is essential
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or equivalent
- 6 months+ experience working in a UK school
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last two years
