ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 2 Teaching Assistant for a welcoming three form-entry primary school in Norbury, Croydon. This outstanding primary school is committed to providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment where all pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential. The successful Year 2 Teaching Assistant will work closely with the Year 2 class teacher, supporting pupils in their learning and development, helping to deliver engaging lessons, and contributing to a positive classroom environment. The position is open to experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, and individuals with relevant experience working with primary-aged children.
CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
- Location - Norbury, Croydon
- Type of work - Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of lessons, working with individual pupils and small groups, assisting with classroom activities, and helping to promote positive learning outcomes
- Position start date - September 2026
- Full time/part time - Full time
- Rate of pay - GBP100 - GBP115 per day (depending on experience)
- Hours - 8:30am - 3:45pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Assistant, or in a similar role within a primary school setting
- Experience supporting children in Key Stage 1, particularly Year 2, is desirable
- A good understanding of the primary curriculum and strategies to support literacy and numeracy development is desirable
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued within the last year is desirable (training can be provided where required)
- GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent
- Relevant Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Education qualification is desirable but not essential
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years
