About the Role
Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools across the UK. We are currently looking for experienced Functional Skills Tutors in Newcastle to deliver 1:1 or small group tuition. You will be supporting young people who are not currently accessing full-time education for a variety of reasons. Many students have been out of school for some time and may present with emotional or behavioural barriers to learning. We are looking for patient, nurturing and flexible tutors who are passionate about helping young people rebuild confidence and re-engage with education.
Sessions are delivered face-to-face in:
- Community settings
- Schools
- Alternative Provisions
- The young person's home
Subjects & Levels
- Functional Skills Maths
- Functional Skills English
- PSHE Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality 1:1 or small group Functional Skills tuition
- Plan and deliver personalised lessons to address learning gaps
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment
- Complete attendance records and weekly progress reports

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Have previous experience delivering Functional Skills
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS registered on the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
- Be able to provide references covering the last two years
