Secondary School | Term Time Only | Immediate / Upcoming Start
Prospero Teaching are working with a well‑established secondary school to recruit a confident and reliable Cover Teacher to support teaching and learning across the school on a term‑time only basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is looking to gain further experience in a school environment.
The Role
As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short‑term absence of teaching staff. Work will be pre‑planned, and your focus will be on maintaining a positive learning environment, keeping students on task, and upholding high behavioural and learning standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise classes across a range of subjects using lesson plans set by teaching staff
Maintain good order and promote positive behaviour in line with school policies
Ensure students remain engaged with learning activities
Register and record student attendance
Support the inclusion and wellbeing of all students
Collect completed work and return it to the appropriate teacher
Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality, and data protection procedures at all times
Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, coaching, etc.)
Strong classroom presence and the ability to manage behaviour calmly and confidently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive, professional, and flexible approach
An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)Experience as a Cover Teacher is desirable but not essential – full guidance and support can be provided.
Hours & Pay
Hours: Approximately 32.5 hours per week (school day hours)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, term time only
Pay: Competitive and in line with experience
