Job description Cover Supervisor/ HLTA Prospero teaching are working with a SEN/SEMH School which deals with students with additional needs and mental health issues. The pupils are age 11-16 years old KS3/4 secondary all with EHCP plans and additional needs. The pupils have usually experienced multiple Adverse Childhood Experiences, and struggle with mental health and trauma. Your role is to build a connection with the young people and act and a mentor and role model for the students as well as leading classes and organising tasks throughout the day. You must have a strong cover supervisor, TA or Tutoring background with students from PRUs or SEMH schools. Due to the barriers the pupils have in the classroom, the role will entail forging strong relationships with pupils. The role will see you using lots of mentoring skills (similar to that used in sports, drama, counselling) to help the individual engage with the school. You will support the pupil in the classroom and out of the classroom on a more vocational basis. The position is open to all experienced and those who have a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school would look at either extending the contract or offering a permanent position. CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS Location – Blackpool Position – Cover Supervisor/ HLTA Start Date – January / ASAP Contract type (temp/perm/temp to perm) – Temporary (View to Permanency) Minimum Rate – £100 per day Hours – 0830 / 1530 (Monday to Friday) EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience in a similar setting / SEMH/ PRU LEVEL 3 Teaching Assistant/or equivalent and above is preferable GCSE Maths and English and Computer literate TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST: Hold Right to Work in the UK Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application Provide two professional child related references that cover at least the last two years OTHER Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business/education recruitment agency in relation to this vacancy.
