Prospero Teaching is looking for a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to work across secondary schools in Hythe, Southampton, providing day-to-day classroom cover as and when required. This flexible role is perfect for candidates who have experience managing a classroom and enjoy working across different subjects and year groups. As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-prepared lessons, supervise pupils during teacher absence, and ensure students remain engaged and on task. The Role
- Provide classroom cover for KS3 and KS4 students
- Deliver pre-set work and maintain a calm, productive learning environment
- Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Support students with their learning while the class teacher is absent
- Cover a range of subjects across the school day
- Follow safeguarding and behaviour procedures consistently
Ideal Candidate
- Experience managing a classroom (school, tutoring, youth work, or similar)
- Confident, adaptable, and calm under pressure
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Local to Hythe, Southampton, or able to travel easily
- Interested in education, with a positive and proactive attitude
Contract Details
- Position: Cover Supervisor
- Location: Hythe, Southampton
- Start Date: ASAP
- Availability: Day-to-day cover
- Key Stages: KS3 & KS4
- Pay: Up to GBP130 per day
- Contract Type: Flexible / ongoing
Experience, Training & Safeguarding
- Experience working with young people is essential
- Classroom management experience required
- Safeguarding training within the last 12 months (can be provided)
Eligibility
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Ability to provide two references relating to work with young people
