Job Type: Temporary Part-Time 20 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Core Subject Tutor to provide one-to-one support for students across Rochdale. This role is ideal for tutors, teachers, or education professionals with experience supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learners working below expected academic levels. The successful candidate will have a strong background delivering personalised support in Maths and English and must have a minimum of 6 months UK-based tutoring or teaching experience. We are looking for patient, adaptable, and passionate individuals who are committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored one-to-one tuition in core subjects, including Maths and English.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning styles, emotional needs, and academic targets.
  • Support students with SEN to improve confidence, engagement, and attainment.
  • Build positive and consistent relationships that encourage progress and participation.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback where required.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 6 months UK-based tutoring or teaching experience.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN in one-to-one or small group settings.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support learners with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
  • Experience delivering Maths and/or English tuition.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Teaching Assistant experience, or relevant educational background.
  • Familiarity with the UK curriculum and differentiated learning strategies.
  • Experience supporting learners preparing for GCSEs or Functional Skills qualifications.
