Prospero Teaching is seeking dedicated, patient, and compassionate Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join a specialist SEND school in Totton, supporting pupils aged 2-19 with a diverse range of needs. The school caters for children and young people with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties, autism, and a variety of communication, sensory, and physical needs.

With Primary and Secondary provision across two sites, the school offers a highly individualised, nurturing environment where pupils are supported to develop communication, independence, emotional wellbeing, and essential life skills. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Providing personalised support to pupils with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and autism
  • Supporting pupils with communication needs, sensory processing differences, and physical or medical needs (full training provided)
  • Assisting with structured learning activities, therapeutic programmes, and differentiated curriculum tasks
  • Promoting emotional wellbeing, safety, and positive engagement throughout the school day
  • Supporting pupils with personal care, mobility, and independence where required
  • Using calm, consistent, and nurturing approaches to build trust and reduce barriers to learning
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff across both school sites

Contract Details

  • Location: Totton
  • Position: Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - SEND
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: 08:50 - 15:25
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Type: Long‑term, full‑time, with temp‑to‑perm pathways available
  • Pay Rate: From £14 per hour

Requirements

  • Have the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)
  • Provide professional references covering the last 24 months
  • Hold a Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education, health & social care, or have relevant SEND experience
