Prospero Teaching is recruiting a supportive and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in the Basingstoke area. This role involves assisting students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.

You will work alongside teaching staff to provide targeted support, helping pupils access learning, stay engaged in lessons, and develop confidence throughout the school day. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within a classroom setting depending on the needs of the pupils. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a rewarding role supporting children who benefit from extra guidance and structure.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 support and small-group assistance to pupils with SEN
  • Support pupils during lessons, activities, and transitions
  • Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support
  • Help adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Maintain a calm and structured learning environment
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
  • Calm, patient, and confident supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build positive and trusting relationships
  • Adaptable and able to respond to different situations
  • Reliable and able to work as part of a team
  • Backgrounds in care, SEN, youth work, or support roles welcomed

Contract Details:

  • Location: Basingstoke
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Working Pattern: Full-time, term-time
  • Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
  • Key Stages: Primary / Secondary

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:

  • SEN or child-support experience desirable
  • Safeguarding training can be provided
  • Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential
