Prospero Teaching is recruiting confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools in the Portsmouth area. This role involves stepping into the classroom in the teacher's absence, delivering pre-prepared lesson materials, and ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task.

You will be responsible for maintaining a positive classroom environment, supporting students with their learning, and ensuring behaviour expectations are met. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience and would suit graduates, aspiring teachers, tutors, youth workers, coaches, or anyone with experience working with young people.

Work is available on a full-time or flexible day-to-day basis depending on your availability.

The Role:

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson content across a range of subjects
  • Supervise pupils and maintain classroom routines
  • Manage behaviour in line with school policies
  • Support students with classroom tasks and engagement
  • Work across a variety of subjects as required
  • Provide cover for both pre-planned and short-notice absences
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people (schools, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, etc.)
  • Confident leading a classroom independently
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Calm, adaptable, and professional approach
  • Comfortable covering a range of subjects
