About the Role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and experienced GCSE Maths & English Tutor to join our team in the Macclesfield and Cheshire East area, starting in January 2026. This role involves delivering 1:1 GCSE Maths and English lessons to students who need extra support in achieving their GCSE goals. The role is perfect for a tutor who can tailor their approach to meet individual learning needs and help students develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed academically.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored GCSE Maths and English lessons, adapting content and pace to suit each student's learning needs.
- Support students in improving subject knowledge, enhancing study skills, and increasing exam confidence.
- Foster a supportive, engaging learning environment, building strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Track student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to parents/carers or other professionals involved in their education.
- Develop and implement structured learning plans, using a flexible and therapeutic approach where needed.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and/or English.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
Desirable Qualifications:
- QTS or PGCE in Secondary Education.
- Experience working with learners with SEN (Autism, ADHD, SEMH).
Additional Information: Sessions are typically scheduled during school hours, with occasional after-school or evening opportunities. Prospero Teaching will provide resources and regular progress monitoring to support your tutoring.
