A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in the Chelmsford area.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for science and education who wants to play a vital role in helping students with additional learning needs access engaging and practical science lessons.
Working closely with the Science Department and teaching staff, you will help prepare resources, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for science lessons.
- Support teaching staff with practical demonstrations and experiments.
- Ensure laboratories and preparation areas are safe, clean and well organised.
- Manage stock levels and order equipment and consumables as required.
- Maintain and service scientific equipment.
- Carry out risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Prepare differentiated practical resources suitable for students with a range of SEN needs.
- Support the school's commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working as a Science Technician or within a laboratory environment.
- A science-related qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.
- A patient, adaptable and positive approach when working within an SEN setting.
- Understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
