As an Outreach Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lessons to bridge gaps in pupils' education and boost engagement and attainment levels. This opportunity is great for an experienced teacher who is looking to step away from the classroom to offer more personalised, enjoyable lessons. This is more of a mentoring role rather than a curriculum-based role. Most of these pupils will have been out of education for some time, so the confidence levels may be very low. It is your responsibility to reengage them in their learning and offer structure back into their daily routine.

Prospero Teaching will work with you closely to monitor the progression with each pupil and support effective learning.

How to prepare for a job interview at Prospero Teaching

✨Know Your Audience

Before the interview, take some time to understand the specific needs of the pupils you'll be working with. Familiarise yourself with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges and think about how you can tailor your approach to meet these needs. This will show that you're not just a teacher, but a mentor who truly cares.

✨Showcase Your Creativity

Since this role requires thinking outside the box, prepare examples of how you've used creative methods in your teaching. Whether it's unique lesson plans or engaging activities, be ready to discuss how you can make learning enjoyable and personalised for each pupil.

✨Demonstrate Patience and Empathy

In your interview, highlight your experience working with disengaged or SEND pupils. Share stories that illustrate your patience and ability to build rapport with students who may have low confidence. This will reassure them that you can create a safe and supportive learning environment.
