About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate and experienced Maths and English Tutor to provide 1:1 outreach tuition to pupils across Buckinghamshire who are currently not attending school. This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified educator looking to deliver bespoke learning outside the traditional classroom setting. You will support young people with varying educational needs – including those with SEN, social, emotional or mental health challenges – helping them to re-engage with learning, build confidence, and make measurable academic progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 sessions in English and Maths (up to GCSE level)
  • Plan engaging lessons that meet individual learning goals
  • Support pupils with SEN and those who may have been out of education for extended periods
  • Track and report on pupil progress in collaboration with Prospero’s education team
  • Provide a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

Role Details

  • Type: Part-time (10-15 hours per week, flexible)
  • Duration: Ongoing, dependent on individual student needs
  • Session Length: Typically 1-3 hours per session
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Pay Rate: From £25 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)

  • Subjects: Maths & English (up to GCSE level)

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS/PGCE or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 months UK teaching/tutoring experience
  • Proven experience supporting students with SEN
  • Confident delivering English and Maths up to GCSE level
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
  • Two recent, relevant references
  • Right to work in the UK
