Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Bridgwater. This is a full-time role supporting a pupil with special education needs.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with autism and complex communication needs.
  • Use visual aids and picture exchange systems (PECS) to support learning and communication.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to the wider support team.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with autism or SEN in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of non-verbal communication methods (PECS, Makaton).
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN (desirable but not essential).
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
