Trauma-Informed SEN Tutor Provide Personalised Support That Puts the Learner First We're looking for a compassionate and experienced Trauma-Informed SEN Tutor to support children and young people across the BCP area through personalised 1:1 tuition. Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll provide tailored educational support to learners who require alternative provision due to SEND, anxiety, school avoidance, SEMH needs, or disrupted educational experiences. Many of the students we support benefit from a trauma-informed approach that prioritises trust, consistency, emotional safety, and positive relationships. This is an ideal opportunity for tutors who understand that engagement comes before attainment and who can create supportive learning environments where young people feel safe to succeed. Location: BCP Role: Trauma-Informed SEN Tutor Start Date: September Hours: Flexible Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour Type: 1:1 Tuition Requirements Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles Experience supporting children and young people with SEND Understanding of trauma-informed practice and relationship-based approaches Ability to adapt learning to individual needs and circumstances Strong communication and relationship-building skills Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across the BCP area Who You'll Support You'll work with learners who may have: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs ADHD Anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance EHCPs and additional educational needs Experiences of trauma or disrupted educationYour role will focus on supporting engagement, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and educational progress through a personalised and nurturing approach.
