Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring, dedicated and resilient Pastoral Mentor to provide 1:1 support to Children Looked After (CLA) across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. The successful candidate will build a positive and trusting relationship with the young person, providing pastoral, emotional and educational support. You will help them develop confidence, resilience, independence and life skills, while encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning. This is a flexible, part-time role offering £25-£30 per hour, with ongoing opportunities. Support may range from a few hours to multiple sessions per week, depending on the individual needs of the young person. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality 1:1 pastoral and mentoring support. Build a positive, trusting and professional relationship with the young person. Support emotional wellbeing, confidence, resilience and self-esteem. Encourage positive behaviour, independence and social development. Support Functional Skills, Life Skills and educational engagement where appropriate. Help young people develop practical skills for everyday life and future independence. Set appropriate goals and activities based on individual needs and abilities. Monitor progress and celebrate achievements. Complete weekly feedback and progress reports. Work closely with children's homes, schools, local authorities and other professionals. Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain professional boundaries at all times. Provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.Experience, Training and Qualifications: The following are desirable but not essential: QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or an equivalent qualification. Previous experience working in a UK school or educational setting. Experience supporting vulnerable children or young people, including Children Looked After. Experience in pastoral care, mentoring, youth work or support work. Up-to-date safeguarding training.To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must: Have the Right to Work in the UK. Hold an enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new DBS. Provide two professional child-related references. Have at least 1 year's experience working in an educational setting. Have a caring, patient, professional and resilient approach to supporting young people.
