Prospero Teaching are working in partnership with Newcastle Local Authority to provide tuition to a young person with Special Education Needs. This individual is currently on a waiting list for a specialist placement, and you will be acting as their alternative education provision. This individual is 12 years old, located in East Newcastle. The young person has a variety of conditions, including Global Developmental Delay and a variety of associated neurodiverse & mental health conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, empathetic tutor to utilise their skills & make a meaningful difference in the lives of a vulnerable individual.

The successful tutor will be versed in attachment aware and trauma-informed practice, with the ability to act with patience and develop lessons to suit the young person's needs. Experience working 1-to-1 with SEND students is essential for this role. We can build up your timetable to accommodate either full or part time hours. Pay rate varies between GBP25 & GBP30 per hour depending on if you have Qualified Teacher Status.

What we need from you:

  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to complete a new application
  • Provide references to cover the last two years of employment
  • The ability to commit to the young person and work for the duration of the placement
