Prospero Teaching are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Sheldon for a dedicated and passionate SENDCO / SENDCO Assistant with Teaching Responsibility to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher with a strong passion for SEND and inclusion to take on either a full SENDCO role or a SENDCO Assistant position, depending on experience. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher, who is currently overseeing SEND provision within the school.

The Role:

  • Supporting the leadership and development of SEND provision across the school
  • Working closely with the Headteacher to ensure pupils with additional needs receive appropriate support and interventions
  • Monitoring the progress and wellbeing of pupils with SEND
  • Supporting the coordination of EHCPs, SEND reviews, and intervention programmes
  • Liaising with parents, teachers, support staff, and external agencies
  • Providing guidance and support around inclusive classroom practice
  • Teaching within the primary setting as part of the role responsibilities
  • Helping to promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEND within a primary setting
  • Have a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Ideally hold the NASENCO qualification (If wanting the full SENDCO role)
  • Be passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs
  • Have excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
  • Be proactive, compassionate, and adaptable
  • Have the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff
