Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience working with children before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Teaching, SEND or Child Psychology? Prospero Teaching is recruiting Psychology graduates to work as Teaching Assistants in Primary and SEN schools across Birmingham from September 2026.
You'll work closely with pupils who require additional support, including children with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties and behavioural needs.
The Role
- 1:1 and small-group SEN support
- Supporting pupils' learning, behaviour and emotional development
- Helping children engage successfully in the classroom
- Building positive relationships and acting as a mentor
- Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and other education professionals
We're Looking For
- Psychology BA/BSc Hons graduate
- Passionate about supporting children and young people
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Patient, resilient and enthusiastic
- Previous experience working with children or SEN is desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Hours: Monday-Friday, approximately 8:30am-3:30pm
Start: September 2026
Location: Birmingham and surrounding areas
Contract: Temporary, ongoing
Pay: Competitive daily rate dependent on experience and assignment
You'll also have access to free accredited CPD, safeguarding and behaviour-management training through Prospero Teaching.
