About the Role
Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Sheffield to recruit a dedicated and organised Biology Technician to support a busy and dynamic Science department. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible and continuing until the end of the academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for science and a keen eye for detail to play a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment and materials for Biology lessons
- Supporting teachers and students during practical experiments
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring it is clean, safe, and ready for use
- Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and keeping accurate records
- Ensuring all health and safety regulations are adhered to within the laboratory
- Providing general administrative support to the Science department as required
The Ideal Candidate
- Has previous experience working in a laboratory or school science department (desirable)
- Holds a relevant science qualification or has a strong background in Biology
- Is highly organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Has a proactive approach to problem-solving
