Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils and Schools throughout the UK. We provide educational support to individuals who are currently out of mainstream education, those seeking additional support, and individuals with SEND. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group Functional Skills Tutors in Bedlington who have experience in delivering Maths, English & PSHE across Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

The Opportunity

We are looking for Functional Skills Tutors in Bedlington who have experience supporting children and young people who are currently working below their age expected attainment levels. Many may be unable to follow a GCSE pathway but would be able, with support, to achieve a Functional Skills qualification. Some of these children and young people are disengaged learners, so require a tutor who is able to increase engagement and help them achieve a qualification. Sessions will take place face to face either in a community setting or at the young person's home.

Position Details:

  • Pay rate up to GBP30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience
  • Part time and full time hours available – up to 10 hours per week per student
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Location: Bedlington
  • Duration: ongoing
  • Access to our Resource Hub, which includes learning materials
  • Access to CPD accredited courses and training

Your role with us:

  • Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition in Functional Skills Maths and/or English
  • Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
  • Monitor student progress
  • Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
  • Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

To be eligible for this role, the potential Functional Skills Tutors must:

  • Have the ability to teach Functional Skills
  • Have experience working with SEND or disengaged pupils
  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • UK classroom teaching experience
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
