Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in the Basingstoke area. This role focuses on supporting students with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.

You will play a key role in helping pupils access education by providing individualised support, encouraging engagement, and assisting them in developing confidence both academically and socially. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, depending on each pupil's needs.

The Role:
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support tailored to pupils with SEN
  • Assist pupils throughout lessons and daily school routines
  • Support behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Help adapt learning activities to suit individual needs
  • Encourage participation, independence, and confidence
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams
  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and structured learning environment
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience working with children or individuals with additional needs
  • Patient, understanding, and confident supporting SEN pupils
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build rapport and trust with students
  • Flexible and able to adapt to different situations
  • Reliable and committed to supporting pupil development
  • Backgrounds in care, SEN, youth work, or support roles welcomed
Contract Details:
  • Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant
  • Location: Basingstoke
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Working Pattern: Full-time, term-time
  • Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
  • SEN or relevant child-support experience preferred
  • Safeguarding training can be provided
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies beneficial
