Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for tutors in Barnsley! At Prospero, we work with local authorities to arrange 1:1 tuition for students accessing alternative provision.
What will you be tutoring?
- Location: S70, within the students home.
- Start Date: ASAP.
- End Date: Ongoing
- Hours: 10 hours per week
- Pay: GBP20 - GBP30 per hour.
The Role: English and Maths tuition for a Year 9 student working below ARE. Expected delivery of knowledge: KS2 - KS3. Experience with SEN desired.
When and where will you be tutoring?
Our tuitions can be held in a number of places:
- Within schools
- Within public places
- Within students homes
At all of the above locations, there will always be an appropriate adult present for your tuition sessions. This will be the students parent, carer, or guardian, meaning you'll never be left alone with a student. Our tuitions take place within school hours, 9am-4pm, and our clients are very flexible on timings. When a role becomes available, we'll come to you as the tutor to set timings for when you'd like to take on the hours.
What qualifications do you need?
With our tuition roles, you do not need to be a qualified teacher. We usually ask that you have some form of higher education. We'd also expect candidates to have some prior experience within education; at least 6 months working in a school or educational setting. This could be as a teacher, teaching assistant, or in a pastoral or support role.

- Hold Right to Work within the UK (Please note, as a recruitment agency, we cannot register people with Sponsorship Visas).
- An enhanced DBS registered on the update service (recommended but not required, as you can apply for a DBS through us).
- References covering 2 years (a full 24 months) of employment, as well as references for any work that you've had with children or vulnerable adults within the last two years.
