About the Opportunity

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Primary SEN Tutor to provide 1:1 tailored tuition to primary-aged pupils with special educational needs across Barking and Dagenham. This role involves delivering bespoke education packages to children who may be out of school or require additional support, helping them to re-engage with learning, build confidence and make progress both academically and socially. You will plan and deliver personalised lessons that meet each pupil's individual needs, adapting your approach to support a range of SEN, including learning difficulties, ASD, ADHD and SEMH. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced SEN professional who enjoys working outside of the classroom in a more flexible, child-centred environment. You will be supported closely by Prospero Teaching to monitor pupil progress and ensure consistently high-quality provision.

Contract / Position Details

  • Location: Barking and Dagenham
  • Position: Primary SEN Tutor (1:1 Outreach)
  • Type of Work: Contract / Temporary
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Hours: 10-15 hours per week
  • Session Length: 1-3 hours per session
  • Pay Rate: From £25 per hour (dependent on experience)
  • Working Pattern: Term-time, flexible scheduling

Experience, Training & Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEN (essential)
  • Experience teaching or supporting primary-aged pupils
  • Qualified teacher status or relevant qualification (QTS, PGCE, EYFS, QTLS or equivalent) - desirable but not essential
  • Minimum 6 months' experience working with children in the UK
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable - training can be provided)

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:

  • Have the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
  • Provide two professional references related to child-based roles covering the last two years
