Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join a successful and inclusive secondary school in Ashford, Surrey from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced History Teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) to become part of a supportive Humanities department. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inspiring History lessons, encouraging students to develop a strong understanding of the past while building their analytical and critical thinking skills.

The Role

  • Position: History Teacher
  • Location: Ashford, Surrey
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Contract: Full-time, long-term (with the potential to become permanent)
  • School: Secondary School
  • Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for suitable candidates.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely feedback.
  • Create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that promotes a love of learning.
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Contribute to the wider Humanities department and participate in school activities where appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching History in a UK secondary school.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge and strong classroom management skills.
  • Is committed to raising attainment and inspiring students.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
  • Has the right to work in the UK.
