Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and engaging 1:1 Tutor to support an enthusiastic young person currently in Year 9, who is working on the Year 7 curriculum. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making learning accessible and enjoyable, especially through practical and hands-on activities 12-15 hours per week.

About the Learner:

  • Has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Enjoys solving Maths problems and is a keen learner
  • Benefits from a calm, structured, and creative approach to learning
  • Requires support in English and Maths , with a focus on building confidence and core skills
  • As a Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 tutoring sessions in English and Maths
  • Use practical and interactive methods to support learning
  • Track progress and adapt sessions to meet evolving needs
  • Work collaboratively with parents/carers and professionals involved
  • About you:

  • Experience working with learners with SEN
  • Strong skills in Maths and English (KS3 level)
  • Ability to tailor lessons to the learner’s interests and preferred learning style
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for education
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Position -1:1 Tutor
    Contract or position start date – ASAP
    Contract or position end date (if applicable) – N/A
    Full time/part-time – Between 12-15 hours per week
    Hours – Various/ flexible hours
    Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people Experience of working with learners with SEN
  • To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
