About the Role
As a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs. You'll help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive and develop at their own pace.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including communication, social, and emotional difficulties.
- Support pupils with classwork, interventions, and learning activities.
- Promote independence and positive behaviour through encouragement and consistency.
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement learning plans.
- Maintain accurate observations and contribute to progress reviews.
- Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion policies at all times.
Requirements
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in KS1 or primary settings.
- Strong communication, patience, and empathy.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
